I love to cook. For me, cooking is a way to unwind and relax after a particularly stressful day. The rhythmic movements of chopping vegetables, dusting meat with seasoning and stirring items on a sizzling pan bring a sense of focus and purpose to my day. The exotic fragrance of a dish carries me away to an imaginary food cart in a far-off country, and the flavors tickling my taste buds are some of the most vivid memories I have. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as popping that first bite into my mouth and realizing it’s just as good as any Las Vegas Strip restaurant.
My love of cooking developed relatively late, but once I started, it became a passion. I began to challenge myself to recreate my favorite dishes at home (and also to discover what takes so much effort that it’s worth the price of eating out). I am intrigued by different foods and delight in foreign tastes. My cookbook collection has grown quite large, and I have multiple Pinterest recipe boards with all sorts of different foods.
The idea for this blog has been kicking around my head for a while. I want to cook recipes from around the world, to discover cuisines I cannot even fathom, and to introduce you all to something different as well. I may not have all of the resources I need to travel to everywhere I want to eat, but I sure as heck am going to try to bring the world to my kitchen counter.
I’m not going to have any set rules except that I will try to stay as close to the ingredients as I am able to get in Nevada, and I will not eat cilantro (it’s gross). Substitutions may be necessary, but not preferred. Some countries may appear multiple times, and I am happy to target regional cuisine as well (what have you got for me, Midwest?). I welcome any family recipes or tried and true dishes you want to send to me, as well.
Dine with me, and discover the world.
